Special Events:
Chili Cook-off and Cakewalk
Sunday, November 15 after the Sunday Service.
Members of the congregation will bring in a pot of chili (and recipe) for the congregation to sample. Tickets will be $1 per sample, or $5
for unlimited sampling. Samplers will cast a vote for their favorite, and the winner will get a blue ribbon and her/his picture on the bulletin board.
The youth will each bake their favorite cakes we'll do a cakewalk for each cake, $1 per cakewalk.
Celebrate the Wheel of the Year in 2009
Lisa Maxey will lead a new series of services/rituals in 2008. We will draw on our seventh principle of respect for the interdependant web of existence and our sixth source of spiritual teachings of earth-centered traditions as we celebrate the Wiccan Wheel of the Year.

Green Sanctuary Steering Committee, the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month. 7-8:45 p.m. The Unitarian Universalist Seventh principle is "Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part." Members of this group are working to help our congregation become a certified Green Sanctuary congregation, as voted upon at our May 2008 all-member meeting. "Over Our Heads Choir" Our choir will be performing for the December 20th service. Practices will be scheduled in December.
Calming the Monkey Mind (Drop-ins welcome): “Monkey Mind” is a Buddhist term meaning “unsettled; restless; capricious; whimsical; fanciful; inconstant; confused; indecisive; uncontrollable.” This class will offer the opportunity to learn and practice techniques of mindfulness meditation. No previous meditation experience necessary.

Building Your Own Theology (10 Sessions, registration needed):
Angus McClean wrote: “It said that liberal religion is a ‘do it yourself kit.’ But there is a danger that we would make it a kit not only without blueprint but without tools and material." This course is designed to give us the tools to engage with our ideas of ultimate concern and commitment and to make meaning of our experiences.
