We offer opportunities for children and youth to explore their own spirituality, in an environment that encourages their questions and comments.

All school-age children join their parents in the sanctuary for the beginning of the Sunday service, then depart with their teachers for their classes.   Visiting children are welcome to visit the classrooms or to stay in the Sunday service with their parents.   Occasionally, we have interactive Sunday services that are intended for all ages.

From September through May, we offer youth-specific programming that has been published by the Unitarian Universalist Association:

Infants, Toddlers & Preschoolers: We offer childcare during the Sunday Service.

Kindergarten - 3rd grade: The younger elementary children will be using Faithful Journeys, exploring how Unitarian Universalism translates into life choices and everyday actions. They hear historic or contemporary stories about real people model how participants can activate their own personal agency – their capacity to act faithfully as Unitarian Universalists – in their own lives, and children have regular opportunities to share and affirm their own stories of faithful action.

4th - 6th/7th grade: The older elementary age group will work from Windows and Mirrors.  In spirit, we embrace the contribution of diversity to our collective ability to pursue truth, fairness, justice and love. In practice, however, we need to learn to embrace all the experiences and viewpoints in our communities as respectfully and as wholly as we can.  (7th graders have the option of participating in the next age group.)

7th - 12th grade: The Sunday morning Teen classes include an exploration of theology, spirituality and history through discussion, drama, music, writing and art and are open to both registered teens and visitors.   These classes are also a part of our Coming of Age program, which is the Unitarian Universalist version of an adolescent rite of passage.  The full Coming of Age program requires advance registration and a year-long commitment.

During the summer, we have childcare for children 5 years old and younger during Sunday services.  Older children typically join their parents during the services or they can help care for the younger children.

Registration:

All children participating in our programs must be registered and have a parent or guardian on-site.  A registration form is available here.
